80th CNMI Liberation Day Officially Canceled

80th Liberation Day canceled following consultations with Mayor, LDC Committee and National Weather Service.
SAIPAN, CNMI — Saipan Mayor Ramon "RB" Camacho and the 80" Liberation Day Committee are deeply saddened to announce the official cancellation of the 80*h CNMI Liberation Day Festivities.
This extremely difficult decision was made after careful consultations with the National Weather Service in regards to the approach of Tropical Storm Saudel which is slowly intensifying as it approaches the Marianas. Although the storm is not expected to directly hit Saipan, out of an abundance of caution and concern for public safety the decision was taken to give our people ample time to take any necessary precautions and preparations. In addition, the ongoing recovery efforts will continue to remain a top priority for our community still reeling from the impacts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku and Bavi.
While we understand this may be a big disappointment to the community as well as festival and parade participants, public safety will always come first. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our partners for helping in preparation and coordination for this event.
We humbly and sincerely apologize to the community for this unfortunate outcome.
Although we couldn't celebrate liberation together this year, we are already looking ahead with great excitement for next year's festivities. We invite everyone in the community to mark their calendars and join in the celebration. Together, we will make next year's event truly unforgettable.
