Acting Governor terminates DPS Commissioner

Acting Governor Karl King-Nabors terminates DPS Commissioner Anthony Macaranas.

DPS PIO Fred Sato told MP, “The Department of Public Safety will continue to carry out its mission of protecting and serving the community. While this is an unfortunate situation for the Department, we remain focused on maintaining continuity of operations and ensuring essential public safety services are not affected. At this time, there is some uncertainty regarding interim leadership in the absence of a Commissioner. However, DPS personnel remain committed to their responsibilities and will continue to report for duty, respond to calls for service, and provide the level of public safety our community expects. Our officers and civilian personnel will continue to do their jobs professionally and remain focused on serving the people of the CNMI.”
