Ballroom Blitz set to ignite the Marianas this Saturday

Korea vs. Marianas Headlines Premier Jiu-Jitsu Event

This Saturday, March 28, the spotlight turns to the Hibiscus Hall at Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan as Trench Tech and Trench Warz Promotions present Ballroom Blitz: The Grappler’s Gala — a premier, black-tie grappling event showcasing some of the region’s most accomplished athletes alongside elite international talent from Asia.

Featuring approximately 15 high-level matchups across multiple belt divisions, the event blends world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition with an elevated, formal event experience — setting a new standard for combat sports in the Marianas.

“Ballroom Blitz is more than just a competition — it’s a statement,” said Cuki Alvarez, Presidentof Trench Warz Promotions. “We’re bringing together the best grapplers from the Marianas and matching them against elite international talent. This is the kind of event that puts our region on the map as a destination for high-level competition.”

Triple Main Event: Korea vs. The MarianasHeadlining the evening is a triple main event featuring black belt showdowns between Team AEGIS Jiu Jitsu Korea and top competitors from the Marianas and the United States — a series of matches that promises world-class technique, intensity, and high-stakes action.

In a marquee light heavyweight clash, Korea’s Min Seong Kim faces off against DJ “The Kimura Kid” Jackson, an IBJJF World Champion and representative of the renowned Team Lloyd Irvin system. Known for his submission prowess, Jackson will be tested against Kim’s extensive international competition résumé, which includes multiple podium finishes across Korea and Asia. In the middleweight division, Do Hyun Park of AEGIS Korea takes on Guam’s Tyrone

“Busy Bones” Jones, a seasoned veteran and former Pacific X-Treme Combat standout. This matchup pits Park’s technical precision against Jones’ experience and dynamic grappling style.

Rounding out the featured trio in the main event, Jiseop Shin of Team AEGIS Korea will square off against Clinton Dela Cruz of Caveirenha/Trench Tech. With over a decade of experience representing Korea, Shin brings a polished, disciplined approach, while Professor Dela Cruz looks to defend home turf in front of a hometown crowd.

“These are the kinds of matchups you don’t usually get to see here,” Alvarez added. “Korea vs. the Marianas at the black belt level — it’s elite, it’s international, and it’s exactly what this event is all about.”

Featured Matchups Across the Card Beyond the main event spotlight, Ballroom Blitz delivers compelling storylines throughout the card. A White Belt Light Heavyweight clash highlights island pride as Rota’s Jovano Taitano of Saipan Submissions takes on Tinian’s Vincent Aguon of Trench Tech, showcasing rising talent in a spirited inter-island matchup. In the lightweight division at brown belt, perennial fan favorite

Vince “The Clinch” Masga of Trench Tech enters the mat on a hot streak against Guam’s Gonzo Quintanilla of CarbsJitJitsu. Masga’s aggressive, pressure-heavy style will be tested against Quintanilla’s seasoned competition experience.

And in a highly anticipated Heavyweight Superfight, Saipan purple belt Kier “The Radical Kid” Agda faces legendary Guam MMA champion and jit-jitsu black belt Roque Martinez of RM Sports. Blending grappling and combat sports pedigree, this clash promises a physical, high-impact contest between two powerful athletes. Fans will also be treated to a special kickboxing exhibition match during halftime between Trench Tech’s Jeff Quitugua and Latte Built’s Teipo “Brazy” Asep.

Demand for Ballroom Blitz has been strong, with VIP tickets ($100) officially sold out as of last week. A limited number of General Admission tickets ($75) remain and are available at:

Any remaining tickets sold at the door will be sold at $80.
