The Department of Public Safety (DPS) announces the implementation of service fees for activities determined not to be part of its essential law enforcement or core responsibilities as outlined under Public Law 14-77. These services require the use of department personnel, equipment, or resources and will therefore be subject to the following fees which become effective March 8, 2026.

The services and corresponding fees are as follows:

Shoreline security protection of vessel/ship – $65 per hour per officer

Shoreline security protection of vessel/ship with DPS Patrol Boat – $1,500 per day

Special events and/or activities requesting officer assistance and/or presence, including crossing guard services, traffic control, grounds security, and traffic escort for processions – $65 per hour per officer

Use of department traffic equipment for private and/or special events – $5 per day

Marine events permit – $200 per marine permit

Service calls (alarm de-activation, squatters, etc.) – $80

Armory storage fee – $50 per week

Escort of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), one-way – $200 per escort

Permit cost for Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) – $150 permit fee

Six (6) feet in length from the front-most portion of the vehicle

Six (6) feet in length from the rear-most portion of the vehicle

Two (2) feet in width from either side of the vehicle

Out-of-Service Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), one-way – $200
Any CMV that becomes out of service on a roadway, obstructing traffic or posing a hazard to motorists and pedestrians, will be subject to the above fee. Refusal to pay the required fee may result in the vehicle being impounded until all fees are fully paid.

These fees are intended to ensure that Department resources remain readily available to respond to emergencies and carry out its primary law enforcement responsibilities, while still allowing the Department to provide certain optional services to the community when requested.

All requests for these services may be made and submitted to the Office of the Commissioner. For more inquiries you can call (670) 664-9022 or email to commissioner@dps.gov.mp.
