From Typhoon Relief to Liberation Celebration: Hawaiʻi Clubs Strengthen “One Marianas” Ties

For the past five years, the Bulacheros Club, a softball team with roots in Hawaiʻi's Hafa Adai Club, has organized Oʻahu's annual Guam Liberation Celebration. The event brings together Guam's diaspora, families, and friends for a community potluck, cultural performances, local CHamoru vendors, raffle prizes, and a shared celebration of Guam's Liberation Day.

This year's celebration, held on Sunday, July 26th in Kapolei, carried special meaning. In May, members of the Bulacheros Club supported the Northern Marianas Club Hawaiʻi's relief drive following Typhoon Sinlaku by providing hands-on support in organizing and preparing donations for shipment to Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. Two months later, the Bulacheros Club welcomed members of the Northern Marianas Club Hawaiʻi to its annual Guam Liberation Celebration, where they joined the festivities and celebrated the shared history, culture, and connections of the Marianas.

Bulacheros Club President Leo Bustillo and Northern Marianas Club Hawaiʻi President Risha Lifoifoi emphasized the importance of "One Marianas," honoring the spirit of unity and mutual support that connects the people of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
