While summer break is a time for rest and relaxation, NMI’s multi-sport student-athlete, 12-year-old Gabriel Walsh, stayed active, working out and swimming at Peak Health and Wellness in Idaho with coach Bryan Janzen.

It was there that his mom, Pamela, learned about the Youth Athlete of the Year contest online. Now, Gabriel is vying for a spot in the Top 15 of his category, with online voting underway at: https://athleteoftheyear.org/2026/gabriel-8ab9

On Saturday, Aug. 29, the multi-sport athlete—who has competed in swimming, tennis, soccer, cross country, track and field, volleyball, triathlon, and cross country—was voted into the second round, allowing him to continue his quest for the top spot and the $25,000 prize and represent 3Brand in Sports Illustrated and on CBS. Voting ends on Thursday, Sept. 3.

Listen to Gabriel Walsh and his mom Pamela to learn more about this opportunity.
