Latte Built celebrates a decade of fitness and inspiration
With music pumping, laughter echoing, and bodies moving through the locally owned Latte Built 24 Hour Gym in Chalan Kanoa, May 10 wasn’t just about fitness—it was a celebration of a decade filled with inspiration, growth, and community.
Owners Derek Cutting, his wife Tania, and their son Makai were joined by community members, loyal gym-goers, staff, and friends for an afternoon of raffles, Zumba, and even beer yoga.
For the Cuttings, this milestone was more than just a business anniversary—it marked years of hard work, passion, and meaningful connections. In his opening remarks, Derek expressed heartfelt gratitude.
To their members, Derek said, “Thank you. You are the reason we exist. Every visit, every rep, every drop of sweat has helped create a culture we’re so proud of. We’ve built more than just muscle—we’ve built a movement.”
To the staff, “You are the heart of Latte Built. Your commitment, energy, and care have shaped the gym into what it is today. I couldn’t ask for a better team.”
And to the community and their partners, “Thank you for standing with us. Your support has helped us grow and stay strong, even through tough times. Ten years ago, we had a dream—to build a gym that changes lives. Today, we’re building that dream together, and we’re just getting started. Here’s to the next 10 years of strength, growth, and inspiration.”
Looking ahead, Derek said the team is exploring expansion opportunities. “We’re not going anywhere,” he said. “We’ve talked about Tinian for a while, and now with the buildup happening there, that could be our next move.”
Reflecting on their journey, Derek described the milestone as “an awesome feeling,” having grown from a small park class to owning a two-story fitness hub that now serves hundreds.
Longtime personal trainer and early member Lorenzo Sanchez said he’s proud to be part of the Latte Built family. “I’m glad I started with Latte Built. I’d recommend anyone to come experience the atmosphere, the classes we offer, and the opportunities that are always available.”
Although the gym’s official anniversary was in April, the celebration was moved to May due to a packed April schedule.
Latte Built’s journey began in 2015, when Derek launched a boot-camp class at American Memorial Park. But just months later, Typhoon Soudelor brought things to a halt. The Cuttings then opened the island’s first 24-hour gym in 2016, on the third floor of the CEDA Building along Beach Road. As membership grew, they relocated to a larger space in Oleai, and opened a second branch in Kagman in January 2019. In 2023, they consolidated both locations and established their current two-story home in Chalan Kanoa.
The gym currently has over 600 members.
