Mariana Islands voices take the stage during Climate Week in New York.

Panelists from across the Mariana Islands gathered in New York during Climate Week for a discussion on climate change and the actions needed to address its life-threatening impacts on island communities.

Bringing together perspectives on culture, environmental advocacy, law, sustainability, Indigenous media and journalism, the panel highlighted the unique challenges facing communities in the Pacific and the importance of ensuring island voices are part of the global climate conversation.

Panelists included Kyle Mandapat of the University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability & Sea Grant; Francois Rogers of Blue Planet Alliance; Julian Aguon of Blue Ocean Law; Camarin Quituqua of Guam Green Growth; Austin Shelton of the University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability & Sea Grant; Thomas Manglona of Marianas Press; and Cara Flores of Nihi Indigenous Media.
