Motorist runs off car into Saipan Lagoon

A green Toyota Corolla driven by a 38-year-old man ran off Beach Road on Monday at 4:56 pm across the Gold Beach Hotel and found itself in the Saipan Lagoon.

The Department of Public Safety said the driver and his lone occupant were uninjured.

DPS Assistant Chief of Police and acting public information officer Simon T. Manacop said the vehicle was traveling south when the male operator felt issues with the wheel.

He said the driver claimed he tried to correct the issue by turning the wheel to the right and ended up running the car off the road and into the water.
