MP intern Fiona Zhu interviews Del. King-Hinds about CNMI Public School System
Delegate Kimberly King-Hinds joins Marianas Press intern Fiona Zhu to discuss the current state of the CNMI public school system and the challenges facing students and families across the Commonwealth. From federal funding to the role of the local economy, Delegate King-Hinds shares insight on how these issues directly impact education. She emphasized that her role is to “make sure that these funding cuts on the federal level don’t impact our schools” and explained her commitment to revitalizing the tourism industry because of the direct support it provides to government operations and, in turn, the Public School System. “Our public school system is strong when our economy is strong,” King-Hinds said. She also expressed her gratitude for the Commissioner of Education, noting that open communication is essential to being “a good advocate on your behalf, on the students’ behalf.” She said, “It’s a work in progress, and we’ll keep chipping away at it one step at a time.”
