MP Rota Correspondent Joy Atalig captured these photos on Luta today as Commonwealth Utilities Corporation crews install new power poles on the island.

According to the CUC executive director's report on July 16, 2026, Rota saw 117 damaged wooden poles and 63 damaged transformers because of Super Typhoon Bavi. Rota has a total of 1,590 poles across the island.

CUC said it is actively working on sending additional power poles and other materials to Rota to speed up restoration. Rota has 40 new wooden poles already on the island.

This is a developing story on Marianas Press.
