Rota was Ready for Super Typhoon Champi
Rota residents were ready for the passage of Super Typhoon Champi that made its closest point of approach to the Marianas early Sunday morning. Despite a brief power outage prior to its passage, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation’s line crew were able to repair the blown transformer and keep the island energized until Super Typhoon Champi’s passage, restoring power by 1 pm Sunday afternoon. Rota Mayor Aubry M. Hocog reported the closure of the island’s two typhoon shelters, the Rota Aging Center and the Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr. Sr. High School’s shelter by 9am Monday morning, with a total of 55 shelterees combined.
MP Rota Correspondent Joycelynn Atalig reports.
