Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Jamika Taijeron clarified that she hasn’t resigned from the CNMI’s tourism body, but told Marianas Press that she will soon be moving to Guam.

In a statement, Taijeron said recent discussions and speculation regarding her future with MVA has prompted her to clarify her current position and intentions.

“At this time, I remain fully committed to serving as managing director of MVA. While I do anticipate resigning from the position in the future in order to reunite with my family in Guam, no resignation has been submitted and no departure is imminent,” she said.

Taijeron said her husband recently accepted a position with the Guam Judiciary as regulation counsel, adding that any future resignation on her part will occur only when she’s confident that MVA is stable, prepared, and well-positioned to continue thriving through that eventual transition.

“The CNMI is home to me, and serving the people of the Commonwealth and the tourism industry has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life. I remain deeply committed to the continued success of the Marianas and will continue looking for opportunities to support the CNMI tourism industry and economy in whatever capacity I can, both now and in the future.”

She then thanked Gov. David M. Apatang, MVA chair Warren Villagomez, the MVA board of directors, MVA staff, industry stakeholders, and the people of the CNMI for their continued trust, support, and partnership to the tourism body.
