The B.A.R.K. Ranger Outreach Fair brought together pet lovers, families, and community partners for a fun and educational morning at the American Memorial Park on Saturday, March 14, from 10am to 12:30 pm.

Hosted by American Memorial Park, with support from the National Park Service and Pacific Historic Parks, the event highlighted responsible pet ownership, and throughout the fair, dog owners and their furry companions had the opportunity to participate in the B.A.R.K. Ranger program.

B.A.R.K stands for: Bag your pet’s waste, Always leash your pet, Respect wildlife, and Know where you can go. During the event, rangers and volunteers shared these guidelines while helping participants learn how to explore the park responsibly with their pets.

To make the learning fun, participants were given a B.A.R.K. Ranger paws-port which they needed to fill at each set up station. At each stop, attendees collected stamps while learning about pet safety, outdoor etiquette, and park stewardship. Once their paws-port was filled, participants made their way to the American Memorial Park tent to receive the final ranger stamp and get sworn in, officially earning their dog’s B.A.R.K. Ranger badge.

As a reward for completing the activity, participants received a free pup cup, potato twirl, or a one-year dog license provided through the Saipan Mayor’s Office Dog Control Program.

Here are some sights and sounds from the event, captured by Chrystal Marino.
