The one-stop shop for all things beauty and pampering, The Bar Beauty Bar & Barber in Garapan next to Hafa Bean Café, held its grand opening on Saturday, with family, friends, and patrons coming out to show their support for the business and owner Kat Coldeen.

The Bar offers barber services for men, a variety of hair and facial services for women, as well as nail services. An additional feature is a beverage bar where you can bring the whole family for any of their beauty services while drinking an alcoholic beverage or non alcoholic beverages for those who are underage.

Coldeen said the inspiration behind this business was from stateside one-stop salons she’s visited with her sister. “They would bring in their kids to get a haircut while the mom gets a mani-pedi. And in addition to that, they were serving drinks to both the kids and adults, so I kind of got inspired and wanted to bring that here to Saipan since we don’t really have that here, hence the name The Bar Beauty Bar & Barber,” said Coldeen.

At the Bar Beauty Bar & Barber, whole families are welcome to get pampered at the same time. “You can bring your daughter or son a haircut while you get pampered, while the dad gets pampered as well. You can order alcoholic beverages at the same time and of course for the underage, we offer juice, water, and other nonalcoholic drinks as well. So you can get all the services done one time at the same time for your whole family.”

The grand opening comes after the shop has been in operation since April 2024. It started with only two barbers offering strictly barber services, but in February 2025 they added more team members and expanded their services. They originally planned to hold a grand opening in June of this year, but they ended up being too busy.

“We actually had a pretty good flow of clientele even though we were such a brand new company, but today, November 22, we’re going to have a grand opening regardless of how busy we are,” she said. “Our journey started off really small, and we haven’t really marketed that much, that’s why today I really wanted the CNMI to know that we’re here, we’re ready for you, we’re ready to service you guys, and I hope we continue to strive and succeed.”

To the people that supported the business from the beginning and to those that came out during the grand opening, she said, “I’m so very thankful and grateful to the community that supported us, especially in the beginning when we were just offering barber services. I am so grateful too because with our economic situation, the austerity, and just the hardships that the CNMI people are facing right now, just the support and love that I get throughout the months—even without any openings, I’m so appreciative to the community. I hope the community continues to support small businesses since this is what’s helping our community stay alive basically.”
