The Hut reopens via food truck, limited menu after storm
The Hut in has quietly reopened with a limited setup, reviving its once-popular food truck—previously a staple at the As Terlaje campus of Northern Marianas College—as it works toward restoring full restaurant operations following recent storm damage.
In an interview, the popular Mexican-inspired eatery in Garapan’s manager Jemalleen Narciso said the business resumed service early last week.
Instead of operating out of its restaurant, The Hut is currently serving customers through its food truck, offering a pared-down menu and limited hours.
Narciso said they are currently serving their Liberation Chicken and our Quesadilla Chicken, adding that operations run from 11am while supplies last.”
The food truck also offers drinks and is operating on a cash-only basis.
Narciso said damage from the recent storm was minimal but enough to affect regular operations.
“There wasn't really much damage besides our roofing tiles in our kitchen,” she said, noting that the business is relying on a generator to keep the food truck running while power issues persist.
A full reopening of the restaurant will depend on the restoration of power. “Yes, hopefully,” Narciso said when asked if they plan to reopen once electricity is fully restored.
Despite the limitations, she expressed appreciation to customers who have continued to support the business.
“Thank you so much for your continued support… just come by,” she said, adding that they will remain open daily even with a reduced menu.
More menu items may return in the coming days, including fan favorites.
“Hopefully by next week, we will be able to serve our loaded fries or our California burritos,” Narciso said.
For now, she said, the focus remains on keeping offerings simple and affordable while serving the community during recovery.
