U15 Baseball Team in Guam for WBSC Oceania Champs

The NMI U15 National Baseball Team that is on Guam competing in the U15 Men’s Baseball Oceania Championship 2025 was sent off with well wishes and good luck during their send off ceremony on Monday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.

They flew out to Guam on Wednesday and are facing off against Guam and Australia, with a loss yesterday morning against powerhouse Australia, 0-15.

The team includes Gonshiro Sasamoto, Jarell Herman, Donray Barcinas, Kaleb Reyes, Kayden Lizama, Zekiel Falig, Aiden Lizama, John Fred, Eric Palacios Jr., Tiwsormal Taisacan, Kainoa Tenorio, Preston Santos, Payton Pangelinan, Dylan Barcinas, Tatum Jones, Caleb Cabrera, Liam Sablan, and Leighton Tomokane-Tenorio.

The coaching staff includes head coach Anthony Salas, Eric Palacios, Francisco Leito, manager Kyle Hocog, and head of delegation Alvin Takai.

Saipan Baseball League president Jay Santos said during the sendoff, “I want to tell you all, I’m very thankful to all of you for all your efforts and for the trust that you have for allowing your kids to play and participate and represent NMI baseball… We’re very thankful to [Saipan Little League Baseball].” He added, "We're very, very thankful that we’re going to field a very competitive team for this tournament and I have absolute confidence in the ability of these guys in front of you today and their coaching staff.”

Salas, for his part, said, “They’re a fun group of kids, very competitive. We’re gonna go to Guam, do our best, and hopefully come out number one right? So, business trip for the boys so we’re going to have fun. Thank you guys again.”

Tomokane-Tenorio, Falig, and Kayden Lizama are the team captains. In their remarks, Tomokane-Tenorio said, “We’d like to thank the parents, the sponsors. I’m grateful to these boys, I get to play with them and spend time with them in Guam.”

Hocog then closed it out and said, “On behalf of the Saipan Baseball League, the U15 NMI team, thank you everyone. I know president Jay mentioned the sponsors, to the ones that weren’t said, you know who you so thank you so much. On behalf of the Northern Mariana Islands, we proudly send off our U15 National Baseball Team. Good luck to us and we’ll make you proud, thank you.”
