Dozens of residents are sounding off online as more major business closures are announced in Saipan.

As reported by Marianas Press on Monday, National Office Supply announced it will shutter its doors at the end of July. The breaking news is drawing harsh criticism and frustration from residents online.

ā€œThis is extremely bad and sad,ā€ wrote John Camacho on Facebook. He added, ā€œWhat is the administration and the entire current legislature doing? Please do something!ā€

He said, ā€œPlease do not just sit back and relax and wait for election to be done in 9 months. Please do something.ā€

Vera Ruben also voiced her views online. Ruben commented, ā€œSo sad, the most important and affordable store that provides for kids school supplies, work supplies, and home supplies is now closing for good.ā€

On Instagram, a comment from a viewer reads, ā€œHow many more ā€˜wake up calls’ for the government to realize we are in a crisis. The way we are going this whole island will become a ghost town. I feel bad for our teenagers and preteens as they are the ones that are more affected by this.ā€

Jordan Danao on Facebook echoed similar sentiments. He said, ā€œEveryone is closing and moving. No plan no vision. Bad leadership.ā€

Another viewer said, ā€œIt really shows that this administration is not helping businesses. There are too many photo ops and not enough real action to support our local economy.ā€

The closure and comments come amid Governor David M. Apatang’s trip to Washington D.C., where he will meet with the Interior, White House, and other State leaders as part of 902 talks and high-level federal meetings.
