A 19-year-old woman was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center emergency room Monday evening, Oct. 26, after complaining of shoulder pain following a three-vehicle collision at the Chalan Kiya traffic light.

The accident, which occurred during the evening rush hour, caused traffic congestion in the area.

Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services public information officer Dwyane Castro said firefighters received a call from the Department of Public Safety at 5pm reporting the collision.

Personnel from the Koblerville Fire Station, Medic-4, and Forestry-4 responded and arrived at 5:09pm.

Castro said emergency responders found three people at the Chalan Kiya Mobil gas station. None initially complained of injuries, and all three only requested that their vital signs be checked.

After assessing the three, emergency personnel cleared the scene at 5:28pm.

However, at around 5:40pm, firefighters received another call requesting medical transport for one of the people involved in the accident.

Medic-4 returned to the scene at 5:51pm, where the 19-year-old woman reported experiencing pain in her left shoulder.

She was assisted onto a stretcher and transported to the hospital at 5:53pm.

The cause of the collision and the extent of damage to the three vehicles were not immediately available.
