Kantan Chamoritta book launch on Rota

The Kantan Chamoritta book launch at the Rota Aging Center brought together community members of all ages from the manamko’ to the manhoben to celebrate Chamoru music, language, and culture. The event honored cultural icons Carmen Songsong Taimanao and Manny Borja alongside contributing artists from across the Marianas, including more than 40 authors. During the launch Carmen and Manny demonstrated excerpts from the book and guided the crowd through the lyrics as everyone learned and sang along together. They also shared how song serves as a form of communication that allows people to tell stories, share experiences, and express themselves through music and the Chamoru language.
