DPS PR: Department of Public Safety (DPS), in coordination with Ports Police, arrested 29-year-old Etpison Faustino Jonas on Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 9:59 a.m. at the Saipan International Airport car rental area.

DPS received information at approximately 9:48 a.m. that Jonas, who was wanted on an active arrest warrant related to a Burglary and Theft incident—in which Jonas is alleged to possess multiple stolen firearms—was at the airport.

DPS and Ports Police officers located Jonas inside the car rental building and arrested him without further incident.

During the arrest operation, officers were advised that the vehicle Jonas had arrived in was returning to the airport. Due to the nature of the outstanding warrant, officers conducted a tactical approach and secured the vehicle operator after the individual initially failed to comply with several commands from investigators.

Officers subsequently cleared and released the vehicle operator, who left the airport area without further incident.

Jonas remains in police custody pending processing on the active warrant.

The investigation remains ongoing. No further information is available at this time
