Rota opens application for Temporary Roofing Program after Bavi

Rota residents are encouraged to apply for the Temporary Roofing Program, following the disastrous wake left behind by Super Typhoon Bavi. If you or anyone you know suffered substantial loss to the roof of your home, Municipal Operations Center’s Public Information Officer Lou Rosario shares the quick and assisted application process, with guidance available at the island’s Survivor Recovery Center (SRC) located at the Sinapalo Youth Center, from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Saturday.

Rosario shares with MP, “The application process is quick as well… They come in, answer a few questions for our intake form and sign the Right of Entry form that allows our federal partners authorization to enter the property for assessment and installation. Once that is signed, we enter them into an app called Survey123 that gets sent to their database where a work order is made for the QA’s to then go out and perform assessments which determines eligibility.”

According to Rosario, there is a Temporary Roof Program Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) available for those interested in applying, at the SRC or online at the Rota Public Information’s Facebook page for those seeking additional information about the program prior to applying.

In order to avail of the Temporary Roof Program, residents must ensure that the damaged roof must be in their main living space. Rosario adds that an outside kitchen is taken into consideration as well, as long as it is the homeowner’s main kitchen. In addition, repairs will only be done to tin or metal roofs only, with at least 50% of the structure still intact. This is to ensure the building team would be able to safely access the roof.

“The most important thing I would like to reiterate is that applying for the Temporary Roof Program does not in any way impact your chances for Individual Assistance and we encourage those with metal roof damages to please apply,” Rosario said.
