Bong Mahusay, a resident of SongSong Village on Rota and a local business owner, shared his story with MP after Super Typhoon Bavi devastated much of his home and business.

Mahusay recalled the harrowing moments of rescuing his tenant, who was trapped inside the only part of the structure left standing–a bathroom. The building had only recently been repaired following the damage caused by Super Typhoon Sinlaku in April.

Despite suffering catastrophic losses, Mahusay remains determined to move forward, as he continues operating his catering business to provide meals for the volunteers and crews assisting with Rota’s recovery efforts. All while working to earn the income he needs to attempt to rebuild his home and business once again.

MP Rota Correspondent Joy Atalig reports.
