Typhoon Shelters on Rota are ready

Rota’s two typhoon shelters were activated at 3pm Saturday afternoon, the first at the Rota Aging Center in Sinapalo I and the second at Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr. Sr. High School in SongSong Village. Sinapalo I’s shelter has a capacity of 100, with roughly 16 cots available for those registered. Meanwhile, SongSong Village’s shelter has a capacity of 40 shelterees, with 14 cots available. According to Rota Mayor Aubry Hocog, residents on Rota in need of shelter as Super Typhoon Bavi approaches are encouraged to go to any of the two shelters before weather conditions worsen. Shelterees are also asked to bring essential supplies such as food, water, medication and bedding. Should you need transportation to either of the two Rota shelters you are asked to contact the Rota Mayor’s Office at (670)532-9451 or 9452.
