The Department of Public Safety arrested three suspects in connection with a theft incident at the former Kanoa Resort in Susupe on Jan. 28.

DPS public information officer Fred Sato identified the suspects as Shabo Sablan, 36; Maverick Arrielo Espinosa, 44; and Marco Biadang, whose age was not provided.

According to DPS, 911 dispatch received a report of a theft in progress at about 11:37am. Officers arrived at the scene around 11:46am and were informed by facility security that the suspects had fled on foot.

Police searched the area and located one of the suspects, Biadang, who was screaming in pain from a leg injury he sustained after jumping from the second floor of the building. An officer immediately rendered medical aid while awaiting medics who had been dispatched to the scene.

Preliminary investigation showed that a security guard caught the suspects attempting to remove copper wiring from a panel box that had been forcibly opened. The three fled upon seeing security personnel.

Biadang was transported to the Commonwealth Heath Center Emergency Room for treatment. He was later arrested and charged after receiving medical clearance.

Sablan and Espinosa were subsequently located, arrested, and charged with criminal trespass and vandalism. Both were booked and detained at the Department of Corrections.
