The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) acknowledges the recovery of a deceased individual in connection with the missing cargo vessel Mariana. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, loved ones, and all those impacted during this difficult time.

CHCC has received official certification from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) authorizing the transfer of custody. CHCC has formally assumed responsibility for the respectful handling, care, and secure custody of the remains upon arrival to the CHCC morgue. The remains will be safeguarded in accordance with established protocols until a Certified Medical Examiner can complete the necessary examination.

At this time, CHCC has no information about the identity of the deceased. To preserve the dignity of the deceased and ensure the integrity of the examination process, access to the remains is strictly prohibited and not available for public viewing. CHCC is working closely with the authorities to coordinate next steps and ensure all appropriate procedures are followed with care and dignity.

We understand the uncertainty this brings, particularly as our community continues to recover from the impacts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku. Our thoughts remain with the affected families, and we are committed to handling this matter with the utmost respect, sensitivity, and professionalism.

Further updates will be shared as information becomes available.
