After her election victory, CNMI Delegate-elect Kimberlyn King-Hinds attended a 10-day freshman congressional orientation in Washington, D.C.

King-Hinds attended meetings with fellow members of Congress, including House Speaker Mike Johnson.

ā€œIt’s been truly eye-opening to step into this arena. Over the last year, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with families across the CNMI, listening to their concerns and hopes for a stronger future for our islands. Since arriving here, I’ve committed to making sure the voices of the CNMI are heard in every conversation I’m part of,ā€ she said in a press release.

King-Hinds, who will be the first Republican to represent the CNMI as delegate, is also part of the ā€œred waveā€ as the party takes control of the presidency, Senate, and House.

She added, ā€œI was genuinely and pleasantly surprised that House leadership took notice of the movement we built in the Commonwealth. I’m proud of the message our community sent in this election and grateful that it’s resonating here. As the new term begins in January, I look forward to building on the connections we’re forming this week, turning them into partnerships that will advance our objectives back home.ā€
