The CNMI Republican Party recently met to prepare for the April 11, 2026, primary election.

According to the party’s Acting Public Information Officer, Jayson Aldan, the April 11 primary will be for all positions, including candidates for governor and the legislature.

All eyes are currently set on the gubernatorial race as former CNMI Gov. Ralph Torres and former Senator Vinnie Sablan face off to be the party’s nominee. It comes after Torres and Sablan ran together in the previous gubernatorial election. Del. Kimberlyn King-Hinds remains unopposed as an incumbent.

Aldan said details about a general membership drive, and the time and location of the primary will be announced later.

Meanwhile, the CNMI Republican Party said that to participate in the primary, a person must be a registered CNMI voter and a registered CNMI GOP member.

They encourage residents to visit the CNMI Election Commission to register to vote in CNMI. To register to be an official GOP member, visit http://bit.ly/cnmigopmembership.
