The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation clarified on Thursday that FEMA generators used in past storms, Soudelor and Yutu, were temporary and returned to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The topic came up after CUC board member Miranda Manglona asked for clarification after hearing countless community conversations that the generators were still on the island and were being misused.

"I just want to make it clear that we do not have any generators from FEMA [from the last storm]," Manglona said during their special meeting today.

CUC said they currently have one generator per site operating multiple wells.

CUC Chief Financial Officer Betty Terlaje said 40 generators are coming in from FEMA, with 20 already on the island. They are working on setting up those generators, with 15 already deployed to the wells waiting to be activated US Army Corps of Engineers.
