Easy Home in San Antonio offers low-cost furniture and household goods

A new budget furniture and household goods shop has opened in San Antonio, offering residents low-cost alternatives at a time when many are tightening their spending.

Easy Home, owned by long-time Saipan resident Steve Wang, began operations in August 2025. The store sells mostly brand-new furniture, including beds, tables, chairs, mattresses, lighting fixtures, and outdoor furniture, along with fans, small appliances, tools, stoves, pet items, and other household goods.

Wang, 51, said he decided to open his own business after finding it increasingly difficult to secure steady work amid the CNMI’s economic slowdown.

“It’s very hard to find work now,” he said. “I wanted to do something for myself.”

Wang said he prefers selling new items rather than used goods, which shaped the concept behind Easy Home.

“I like selling new stuff. I don’t like the old ones,” he said.

The shop’s low prices, he added, come from sourcing products directly from factories in China, mainly from his home province of Zhejiang, a major manufacturing and trading hub in eastern China.

“I order from the factory, so the prices are already very low,” Wang said, noting that the store typically does not need to run large discounts because the base prices are already lower than many competitors. Discounts may be offered for combination or bulk purchases.

Before opening Easy Home, Wang himself previously worked in the garment industry when he first arrived on Saipan in 2004.

Originally from Zhejiang province, near Shanghai, Wang said the region is well known for its large wholesale markets, particularly in Yiwu.

Wang now lives on Saipan with his family. His children are currently attending college at Northern Marianas College.

While business is still in the early stages, Wang said Easy Home is managing to stay afloat.

“It’s still survival,” he said. “But we try.”
