High hopes for the Guam Sihek on Palmyra Atoll
It’s our last morning surveying sihek territory for the last of the nine Guam Sihek on Palmyra. Tatiana Ananich, Bird Conservation Assistant with The Nature Conservancy and the Zoological Society of London, and Kayla Baker, Senior Bird Conservation Specialist, continue to track the birds. This time, our journey not only brought us through thick jungle, but also the ocean as the team attempts to find the elusive last member of the first nine sihek released here in 2024. As we wrap up our time in Palmyra, we asked Tatiana and Kayla what their hopes are for the sihek.
As we wrap up our time in Palmyra, join MP’s Thomas Manglona II on a boat ride around the atoll.
