Homey Homie, a new boutique gift and lifestyle shop offering ocean-inspired merchandise, furniture, and outdoor gear, has opened in Garapan, adding more shopping options for residents ahead of the Christmas season.

The business, owned by Rain Ren, opened last Oct. 25 at Tun Kikus Building. Ren said the concept behind Homey Homie was to create a relaxed, welcoming space that reflects Saipan’s island lifestyle and love for the outdoors.

“Homey means when you come in, you feel relaxed, like you’re at home,” Ren said. “Everything here is designed around the ocean and island life.”

The shop carries a wide range of products, including sofas, sofa beds, cabinets, small tables, TV stands, and other home furniture. It also features a growing selection of gift items such as stuffed toys, hats, plush key chains, unique wall clocks, bags, Hydroflask-style water bottles, toys, beach towels, and slippers, many of which Ren said have been popular with holiday shoppers.

“We have a lot of cute items that people can buy as gifts,” she said. “Now the Saipan community has more choices when they’re looking for Christmas gift ideas.”

Homey Homie also sells camping and beach gear, including beach tents, chairs, and outdoor equipment, which Ren said has been the shop’s best-selling category so far.

“Outdoor items are the biggest seller right now,” Ren said. “A lot of people here like to go to the beach and camp, and some of these items are hard to find on the island.”

Ren said all of the shop’s ready-to-wear clothing is designed by her and features ocean- and island-themed graphics. The store’s overall aesthetic mixes home décor, gifts, and outdoor products to reflect Saipan’s tropical environment.

Despite the ongoing economic slowdown, Ren said she decided to open the business to help support the local economy and bring something new to Garapan.

“Our island is slow right now, but I still wanted to support the community and do something positive,” she said. “I want this to be a place where people can relax and find something interesting.”

Ren said customers have responded positively since the shop’s opening, particularly after extended hours during Black Friday, when Homey Homie stayed open until around 11pm.

“People really appreciated that we stayed open late on Black Friday,” she said. “They were surprised to see a shop open that late in Garapan, and many came in just because they saw the lights on.”

She added that many customers said they did not realize there were new shops operating in the area and were drawn in by the store’s ocean-themed displays and outdoor gear.

Homey Homie is currently running a Christmas sale, offering discounts of 20% to 30% on select items through the end of the month.

The shop is open daily from 11am to 7pm at Tunkiku’s Building in Garapan. Homey Homie can be found on Instagram and Facebook under @homeyhomie67, and inquiries can be made at (670) 588-8869.
