King Hinds: USDA approves nearly $40 million in disaster food aid for CNMI
Delegate Kimberlyn King-Hinds announced this morning, June 9, that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved additional nutrition assistance for the CNMI following Super Typhoon Sinlaku, potentially providing nearly $40 million in food aid to affected households.
Current Nutrition Assistance Program recipients will receive the maximum benefit amount plus a 20% increase for six months, while Disaster NAP has also been approved for two months for residents impacted by the typhoon.
King-Hinds said implementation details, including application procedures, eligibility guidelines, and benefit distribution timelines, are still being finalized by local officials.
