A 66-year-old Saipan man pleaded guilty in Superior Court to one count of sexual assault in the second degree and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with the first seven years to be served without the possibility of parole or early release.

Nores S. Langu, who appeared before the court wearing an orange Department of Corrections jumpsuit with his hands handcuffed and restrained by chains, entered the guilty plea during a June 10 hearing before Presiding Judge Joseph N. Camacho.

According to a judgment and commitment order issued by the Superior Court, Langu pleaded guilty to Count VI of a first amended information. In exchange for the plea, the Commonwealth agreed to dismiss the remaining charges with prejudice.

Court records state that on Sept. 27, 2025, Langu unlawfully aided and encouraged another individual to engage in sexual contact with a person while that person was sleeping and without consent. The court document states that Langu removed the person's pants and instructed co-defendant Mariano Q. Falig Jr. to get on top of the victim and engage in genital contact without consent.

Camacho accepted Langu’s guilty plea after finding that it was made freely and voluntarily, that he understood the consequences of the plea, that he had the advice of competent counsel, and that there was a factual basis for the plea.

Before sentencing, Langu apologized to the court, his family, friends, and children for his actions. He also expressed remorse and asked the court for understanding.

Langu was represented by court-appointed attorney Richard Miller, while the government was represented by assistant attorney general Frances Demapan.

As part of the sentence, Langu received credit for 233 days already served in custody. The court ordered a 15-year prison term, with the first seven years to be served without parole, work release, early release, or any similar release program. The remainder of the sentence was suspended and may be imposed if he violates the law or probation conditions.

Upon his release, Langu will be placed on supervised probation for 10 years and must report to the Office of Adult Probation within one business day. He was also ordered to pay a $100 fine and $25 in court costs.

The court further ordered that Langu have no direct or indirect contact with the victim and cooperate with prosecutors by testifying against Falig should the co-defendant’s case proceed to trial.

Additional conditions require Langu to register as a sex offender, complete any counseling ordered by probation officials, refrain from using alcohol or illegal drugs, submit to random drug testing, and obey all CNMI and federal laws.
