The Ohala Foundation distributed 550 food bags to Tinian residents today.

Chairman of the Ohala Foundation Phillip Long told Marianas Press, “72hrs after the All Clear was given for Super Typhoon Sinlaku, volunteers for the Ohala Foundation activated and began to prepare food distribution bags from their existing inventory in their foodbank. Over 550 families were assisted in just 3hrs when the distribution started. We were very lucky to have an operating foodbank on island with enough inventory to help our people who lost their entire homes. The US Navy and the US Marines also came out strong to help bagging and distribution of these much needed foodbags to our Tinian residents.”

He added, “My worry now is running out of food in the food bank, our normal food bank assistance pre-typhoon was only 100 bags a month. To do 5 times that in only 3hrs, tells us we are going to need a lot more help to keep the foodbank stocked for our next distribution in a weeks time.”
