Following the completion of the Beach Road improvement project, the CNMI Department of Public Safety has seen a rise in traffic violations. One driver was caught speeding at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Marianas Press’ Thomas Manglona II joined CNMI DPS Highway Patrol Traffic Investigations Supervisor Sgt. Adrian Mendiola on patrol to learn how officers are working to keep Saipan’s roads safe.

With 23,000 registered vehicles and 16,000 licensed drivers in the CNMI, Mendiola says traffic enforcement remains a top priority.

In 2024 alone, CNMI DPS responded to over 900 crashes, an average of 75 per month. Sgt. Mendiola also shares key safety tips for both drivers and pedestrians.
