Family members of the Mariana crew lost at sea shared this video with Marianas Press. Lucille Camacho Hilario, a first cousin of one of the crew members, shared the videos with permission from the family who received them.
The first video, sent to a crew member's mother, shows stormy conditions and large waves around the vessel. It was received by the family on April 16, 2026.
The second video in this clip was also sent to the family, and a crew member can be heard asking if they would be rescued. It’s unclear when this video was received but MP will update this story when we are able to confirm.
The U.S. Coast Guard began searching for the missing cargo vessel on Friday, April 17, 2026. It experienced engine failure near Saipan on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. On Saturday, April 18, the U.S. Coast Guard sighted an overturned vessel about 34 nautical miles northeast of Pagan, approximately 100 nautical miles northeast of the last known position of the cargo vessel Mariana. On Monday, April 20, 2026, divers recovered one deceased individual from the overturned cargo vessel Mariana during dive operations.
A vigil will be held today at 6 p.m. at the 13 Fisherman Pavilion. Community members are encouraged to attend and stand together in remembrance of the deceased crew member and the five still missing.
This is a developing story.
